Background Research
Individually, and as a group, we conducted exploratory research on an early version of our topic. During this stage, our goal was to find the most reputable pain points in relation to travel with relevant citations. I personally focused on the following research question: “Which items do most travelers tend to misplace or forget to pack on their travels? Why these specific items?”

User Interviews
Before conducting research, as a group, we formulated various questions and a script to keep our data as consistent as possible. Prior to interviewing, participants were given screening questions to assure they fit our criteria (matching our target audience). Next, I conducted 2 out of 8 user interviews within our group, lasting approx. 15 minutes each.

Crafting well-thought out research and targeted questions early on prevents multiple shifts in vision and goal - estabilishing a clear foundation from the start.
Better Preperation
Establishing a clear foundation from the start would have prevented shifting goals throughout the process, reducing time and workload increaese.
FUN FACT: the name “TernTravel” is inspired by the arctic tern bird which has one of the longest known migration routes - travelling more than 80, 000km/year! (Ocean Conservancy). Hence, the logo of this app being represented by the silhouette of an arctic tern.
